What does an AI agent do in communications and marketing?

A company's communications stop the day urgent work takes over, and start again two months later. This page describes the agent that keeps it going. Djtal has run its own since May 2026, and you can check its work online.

In brief

The company's voice, kept steady over time.

An AI agent for communications and marketing is a digital team member that keeps the editorial calendar, follows written editorial guidelines, checks each fact against its source, prepares visuals and publishes after human approval. Djtal, the operational AI specialist for Swiss companies, has run its own since May 2026. This page describes the work it does day to day.

Who does what

Five tasks, with the division of work set down in writing.

The agent's role is written down before the first piece of copy: editorial guidelines, channels, approval points. The table below shows the split Djtal works to, week after week.

TaskWhat the agent doesWhat stays with a human
Editorial calendarKeeps the calendar and flags every deadline before it arrives. Keeps one episode ready in advance.Decides the topics and the cadence.
CopywritingWrites posts, articles and web pages to the company's written editorial guidelines.Approves every piece before it goes live.
Fact-checkingTraces every figure and fact back to its source before anything is published.Settles ambiguous cases and sensitive topics.
VisualsWrites the visual briefs and generates the illustrations, within the brand guidelines.Sets the art direction.
PublishingPublishes after approval, then checks the live page, because a publishing tool's own report cannot be taken on trust.Decides to publish. Always.

Real cases

Work you can check online.

On 20 July 2026, Iris, Djtal's communications agent, put Djtal's AI visibility study online. She deployed the article's two files, checked the live page as it rendered and notified the search engines. Management had approved the content. The execution, the check and the report were hers.

For a Swiss brand, the same approach has gone further. The agent built the editorial identity, developed the website (pages, content, launch), wrote the content in the voice defined for the brand and now monitors search visibility and fixes what the measurements show. How such an agent works day to day is set out on our page about an AI agent in production.

And at your company

The cadence your market would see.

A manufacturing SME would start with its LinkedIn page and product pages. The agent would keep to a weekly cadence and prepare each post for the business leader to approve. A retailer would add a newsletter and social media. A services firm would focus on expert articles, the kind its clients search for and that search engines and AI tools cite.

In each case the guidelines would be written first, with your vocabulary and your rules on what to avoid. Regularity would do the rest, with 52 publications a year, on the same channel, on the same day of the week.

The method

How the agent is set up.

  1. 1.

    The guidelines are written

Tone, vocabulary, formats, words to avoid and approval points make up the company's voice, set down before the first piece of copy.

  2. 2.

The agent produces on your real topics

It draws on your facts, your verified figures and your first-hand cases, tests its output channel by channel and submits every piece for approval before publication.

  3. 3.

Your teams take over running it

With forward-deployed engineering, a Djtal engineer works inside your team until handover.

The definition of an agent, the conditions for success and the cost are all set out on our page about AI agents for your business. Its finance and accounting equivalent is the AI agent for finance. For an overview by function, see AI and Zoho use cases.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about the communications AI agent.

Can an AI content agent write a company's marketing content?

Yes. Djtal sets two conditions in writing before an AI agent produces its first text: editorial guidelines (tone, vocabulary, formats, words to avoid) and a verification rule (every figure and fact traced back to its source before publication). Approval of the content stays with people. The agent prepares each piece, then waits for the person in charge to approve it before anything goes out.

How do you stop an AI agent producing generic content?

A Djtal communications AI agent avoids generic content when it is given material that only the company has (its facts, its verified figures, its first-hand cases). An agent without that material writes the same text as the rest of the market. At Djtal, the guidelines ban a list of stock phrases, and an automated check flags every occurrence before publication.

Which channels does an AI agent for communications and marketing cover?

At Djtal, a communications AI agent covers the website and blog, the company's LinkedIn pages, the newsletter and press releases, and keeps them consistent with one another (same figures, same vocabulary, same facts on every surface). Publishing runs channel by channel, each time after the content has been approved.

What do people still do when an AI agent handles communications?

With a Djtal AI agent for communications, people keep the decision to publish, always. They also keep the company's voice and positions, sensitive subjects and direct relationships with the press, partners and clients. The agent prepares, produces and carries out the work, then reports back on what it published, with the evidence.
